Last week, the Carceral Accountability Council hosted a well-attended community forum in Leavenworth, Kansas, focused on local prison reform efforts. The event brought together community members, activists, and former inmates to discuss the challenges and opportunities for improving the carceral system. Key topics included CoreCivic’s role in the community, the impact of incarceration on families, and strategies for promoting rehabilitation.

Panelists shared personal stories and insights, highlighting the urgent need for reform. They emphasized the importance of community involvement in advocating for change. The forum also served as a platform for launching new initiatives aimed at supporting inmates and their families. These initiatives include job training programs, educational opportunities, and mental health services.

The Carceral Accountability Council is committed to fostering dialogue and collaboration to address the complex issues surrounding incarceration. We believe that by working together, we can create a more just and equitable system. We encourage everyone to get involved and support our efforts to promote prison reform in Leavenworth and beyond.
